Frequently Asked Questions
We rent 15′ and 20′ box trucks. View a detailed list of our moving vehicles.
Southeast offers two products to provide coverage for your rental. We offer a Limited Damage Waiver (LDW) which covers the vehicle you rent from us and Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) to cover harm done to other people or other’s property other than the vehicle rented. SLI does not cover the rental vehicle.
A limited damage waiver (LDW) protects the renter in case of unintended damage to our truck. For a small daily fee, we will take responsibility for damage above a small deductible saving the customer the risks and liabilities associated with accidental damage. If you don’t purchase LDW, you and/or your insurance company are responsible for damage to the vehicle. If LDW is purchased, you are responsible only for the deductible ($250 for individual renters, $1,000 for corporate customers).
LDW costs $12 per day. Keep in mind that LDW does not cover damage to the upper part of the box of a truck caused by driving under something too low for the vehicle (such as a tree branch or drive-thru window).
Southeast requires that you provide coverage for our truck. Most consumer insurance policies do NOT cover the rental of a truck, though policies can vary widely. You should check with your insurance company before you rent the truck to be sure. If your policy does not cover our truck, we require LDW.
In the unlikely event you encounter a breakdown or have an accident, call our 24 hour emergency 1-866-933-9855.
Driving a truck is different from driving a car. Trucks have larger turning radiuses and stop more slowly, especially when loaded. Also, you need to be careful when you drive under anything with a low clearance. Low hanging branches, fast-food or dry cleaning drive thru windows and parking decks can all do serious damage to the upper part of a truck box.
You need to be 21 years old and have a valid Georgia Driver’s license. You do not need a special or Commercial Driver’s License.

Yes, you may add additional drivers to your rental agreement when you pick up your rental. All additional drivers must present a valid Georgia driver’s license, and be at least 21 years old. If the truck is driven by an unauthorized driver any coverage provided to you could be voided.
We ask for credit or debit card information at the time of the reservation in order to associate that information with your rental agreement, but do not charge your card when the reservation is made. We do reserve the right to charge a penalty in the event that the reservation is not cancelled at least 48 hours in advance. This is to ensure that we have trucks ready for each of our customers in the most efficient way possible.
Truck rentals require a deposit of $150 or the estimated cost of the rental, whichever is larger. We place a hold of $150 on your credit/debit card at the time of rental. Upon your return of the truck, all holds will be released, and the actual cost of the rental will be charged plus any damages or expenses we have incurred, if applicable. Please note that when using a debit card your bank may take up to two weeks to release the funds back to your card. We cannot be held responsible for any returned checks due to debit card hold processing.
We accept the following forms of payment: Visa, American Express, Discover, and MasterCard.

First, contact the police to complete an accident report. Then immediately contact us. You can find our phone number on the front of your rental agreement. If we are closed, call the 24-hour roadside assistance toll-free at 1-866-933-9855.
No problem! Just call us and let us know. We will adjust the credit card hold to cover the extra expected charges. However, if you don’t call us, we may be forced to enact recovery efforts including seizing the truck and/or reporting the truck to the authorities as stolen.
Before you start driving, take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the truck’s equipment and operation, including heat and A/C, radio, lights, windshield wipers, spare tire, seat belts and door locks, and gas tank access the vertical clearance. Getting distracted trying to figure out those things while driving can be dangerous. Don’t wait until the fuel warning light goes on to think about buying gas, especially if you don’t know how far it is between gas stations. If, in the unlikely event that your truck malfunctions on a major thoroughfare, lock the doors, turn on the hazard lights and, if you have a cell phone, call the police or call our 24-hour roadside assistance at 1-866-933-9855. Don’t leave your truck. Wait in the truck for service or the police to arrive. If, in the unlikely event that an emergency light illuminates on your control panel, don’t ignore it. Use good judgment about whether you can get back to our location safely and don’t hesitate to call our 24-hour roadside assistance at 1-866-933-9855.
